Fall 2018 Research Symposium - Reassessing Recycling: Balancing Market Challenges and Citizen Expectations

  • Dates: 14 – 14 Nov, 2018
  • Time: 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Location: Embassy Suites Orlando - Lake Buena Vista South

In 2008, the Florida Legislature established a statewide recycling goal of 75 percent by 2020. As providers of municipal waste services, cities play a significant role in helping their counties meet this goal. Since 2016, multiple challenges have jeopardized that objective.

Join us for our Fall Research Symposium as we examine the impact of contamination rates and the price of trash in the global economy. We will also explore how city ordinances regulating single-use plastics affect the local business community and help or hurt recycling goals. Learn  about specific actions cities can take to reassess operations and policies to adapt and maintain viable municipal materials management systems from industry experts, business leaders and our research partners.
