SB 476 (Evers) a bill preempting local governments from regulating short-term vacation rentals, was amended in the Senate Judiciary Committee to grandfather local ordinances existing before June 1, 2011. Local governments that fail to adopt an ordinance before June 1, 2011 will be preempted from regulating these rental properties. Although the League does not support the bill, the amendment improves the bill by grandfathering in existing ordinances regulating vacation rentals.
