Saving ourselves from debt
One of my daughters, a teen, is contemplating her first job. It will be a summer job, pretty close to full-time, if she is successful in her efforts. And there is a pretty good chance that she will be; she’s paid her dues, and cares deeply about the kids who come to the summer program.
Of course, the best part of fantasizing about this job isn’t the kids, or the collegial relationship with fellow counselors, or the summer fun. It’s the money.
Not that the other things aren’t important. They are, and especially to her.
But money’s cool, too.
