City History:	Incorporated 1825. Established in 1823, this city was named for the two daughters (Mary and Anna) of the original owners of the site, Robert Beveridge and his wife. It was the site of the Battle of Marianna in 1864, when federal forces were resisted by old men and boys. The original county seat was a small community north of Marianna known as Webberville. After Marianna was formed, the county seat was moved from Webberville to Marianna.
