Animal Control or Cruelty Ordinances (Support)

CS/SB 488 (Rich) and HB 527 (Randolph) authorize cities with animal control or cruelty ordinances to impose up to a $15 surcharge on the civil penalty for violations of the ordinance. Proceeds go toward training animal control officers; to clerks of the court; and to spay/neuter programs in that city. CS/SB 488 passed the Senate by a vote of 39-0 and is now in the House. HB 527 is in the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Subcommittee and is likely dead for this session. (Cook)
